On Kay Adams's show "Up and Adams," former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was asked who was the coach who has the best chance to get him out of retirement. The future hall of fame tight end responded with New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

He continued by saying that Daboll couldn't get him out of retirement, but he would have the best chance. This is semi-surprising with other former coaches Gronkowski has played for scattered around the league, such as Josh McDaniels and Bill O'Brien and Bill Belichick in New England.

That said, Daboll was the tight ends coach for the Patriots from 2013-2016. Gronkowski had two monster seasons under Daboll's watchful eye in 2014 and 2015. Daboll is in his second year as the head coach of the Giants. In his first year, the team had a surprising run into the playoffs, and the rookie head coach won coach of the year honors.

Gronkowski then discussed how the pairing with new Giants tight end Darren Waller would work. He mentioned how having two tight ends on the field helped make "the defense have the most difficult times." The retired All-Pro even referenced his time in New England as an example.

Current Patriots tight end Hunter Henry mentioned how offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has been showing them film of the unstoppable duo of Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez this offseason. With how the Patriots' offense is currently constructed, this may be how Bill O'Brien intends to utilize the tight end room and offense as a whole.

This may be difficult to unveil for O'Brien and the offense early in the season with the recent injury news of free agent addition Mike Gesicki. With a healthy Patriots offense, there should be a focus on using more two tight end sets during the season.
