Patriots' worst-case scenario 2024 NFL mock draft

Round 4, Pick No. 103: TE Cade Stover, Ohio State

Rounding off the worst-case scenario draft would be the Patriots taking tight end Cade Stover in the fourth round.

Although they need to add depth to the position and draft for the future, since Hunter Henry is getting older and Austin Hooper was only signed as insurance, there are other positions with higher-ranked players available who would be better suited to pick.

The most desirable selection there would be one of the top-tier running backs, especially with Rhamondre Stevenson finishing his rookie contract in 2024. Because many teams in the league don't like to pay RBs beyond their first four years, the Patriots could follow the trend and watch Stevenson walk.

That would make taking a guy like Audric Estime or Marshawn Lloyd might be more worth their while.

Taking Stover in a regular draft at this point wouldn't be a bad decision, especially as the fourth-ranked tight end of this year's class. But that's not what this mock draft was meant to be.
