The Patriots' season has been cursed by injuries, and they looked to add another to the list in the fourth quarter. As if the offense hadn't struggled enough already, seeing running back Rhamondre Stevenson try to hop off the field, followed by the medical team coming to him lying on the field, was not the sign fans needed to see during a close game.

His day had already started off much differently than the previous four games, as Jerod Mayo announced he was demoting the starter after he accumulated four fumbles to start the year, pushing Antonio Gibson to the top of the depth chart.

The new Patriot has impressed in his first year in New England, even with his limited usage behind Stevenson, and had another great showing on Sunday against the Dolphins. It looked like he would be the main weapon out of the backfield after Stevenson went down, but the team got lucky as he only missed one play.

The Patriots got even better news after the loss when Stevenson revealed he doesn't expect to miss any time due to the ankle injury he sustained to his ankle during the game. It's a massive sigh of relief for the offense moving forward, even if they aren't playing well overall, since he is the primary contributor for the offense so far.

The hope is that the injury won't worsen throughout the week. The Patriots certainly cannot afford to lose another player on the team, not to mention the offense.

To make matters worse, they have a tough matchup next week, with the Texans coming to town after demolishing the Bills in Week 5. So having Stevenson in the lineup is a necessity and likely the only way the Patriots will have a chance to do much of anything.
