Josh McDaniels is expected to follow Bill Belichick to his new team

When it was announced that the Raiders were firing Josh McDaniels midseason, there was a strong belief that the two-time failed head coach would return to where he saw his most success.

Those rumors heightened when his first public appearance since leaving Las Vegas was attending the Patriots' final game of the season, but that appears to be the extent of his potential Foxboro reunion.

With Bill Belichick out and Jerod Mayo in, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that McDaniels is unlikely to return to the Patriots any time soon. In fact, he believes he will wind up wherever Belichick coaches next season, which at the moment is believed to be the Falcons.

It wouldn't be at all shocking if McDaniels follows Belichick wherever he goes, whether it ends up being in Atlanta or elsewhere.

It's also a sign that more changes are coming to the Patriots staff since Jerod Mayo is not entertaining the idea of bringing former coaches back to his new staff, which is a move in the right direction.
