It's week 1 of the NFL season

This has to be the most significant advantage of them all.

The opening night of the 2023 season was the ultimate example, as the Detroit Lions went into Kansas City and defeated the reigning Super Bowl Champions by one point in week one. It was a result not a single person expected nor predicted, but that's exactly how the NFL is.

It may not have been played on Sunday, but it was a game that could be summed up with "Any given Sunday."

There will always be teams that appear better than their opponent on paper, even teams that are deemed Super Bowl favorites as early as April. And sometimes, those evaluations end up being accurate, but more often than not, they are proven false.

So the Eagles will come to Gillette Stadium as the clear betting favorites, and not a single NFL expert will likely pick the Patriots to win. Maybe that will be how the game goes, but you can't rule out any team in the first week of the season, not even a rebuilding Patriots team.
