Patriots final injury report just got longer ahead of matchup with the Saints
Since the start of the season, the Patriots have unfortunately been dealing with quite the injury bug to their roster, especially to integral players on offense and defense. After losing Christian Gonzalez and Matthew Judon in last week's game, they have added even more names to the injury report ahead of their matchup with the Saints on Sunday.
The final report before the game was released on Friday, with the three players eligible to be activated from injured reserve/PUP were listed, along with a new player unexpectedly added.
Starting left tackle Trent Brown is apparently dealing with a chest injury, which was news to reporters since he had been a full participant at practice all week. He was limited on Friday, and the severity of his injury is not yet known.
Considering the state of the offensive line and the lack of depth overall, losing Brown right now would be a significant blow to the offense, especially with the importance this game holds. Because he was a full participant all week, there's hope it is not a serious enough injury to keep him sidelined.
The one good part regarding those on the injury list is the rumblings of Jonathan Jones likely returning for the first time since week one, which would be quite a boost to the secondary, with Gonzalez now joining Jack and Marcus Jones with injury.
We could also see the returns of Cody Davis, Trey Flowers, and/or Riley Reiff this week, as they were all taken off IR/PUP earlier this week. If Gonzalez and Judon are officially moved to IR, that would create two open roster spots, allowing Bill Belichick to decide which of the three players could be activated.
Questionable for Sunday:
- DL Christian Barmore, Knee
- OL Trent Brown, Chest
- DB Cody Davis, Knee
- DL Trey Flowers, Foot
- DL Davon Godchaux, Ankle
- CB Jonathan Jones, Ankle
- OL Riley Reiff, Knee (LP)
