With Bill Belichick failing to secure a head coaching job for the 2024 NFL season, most have already looked ahead to next year and predicted which teams might be interested in his services. He has made it clear he would like to continue coaching, likely to break Don Shula's longtime record for most wins by a head coach, and surely, he will have his choice of teams next offseason.

Plenty of rumors have circulated regarding which head coaches might be let go if they fail to reach certain heights this fall, with a few looking like contenders for Belichick.

Those in the hot seat have predominately featured the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants, all of which would be fine in the eyes of Patriots fans if Belichick chose to coach a team in the NFC.

But Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd's latest suggestion would be an absolute nightmare scenario for the Patriots, and not just because they would be a team in the AFC.

Colin Cowherd couldn't have suggested a worse team as Bill Belichick's next coaching home

When discussing the short list of teams that would potentially inquire about hiring Belichick next year, Cowherd suggested two of the most predicted landing spots, Dallas and Philadelphia. But his insertion of the Buffalo Bills caught the attention of Patriots fans, as this would be the worst possible outcome of the legendary head coach's departure from New England.

Not only would he be coaching a longtime AFC East rival who faces the Patriots two times a year with a possible vengeful attitude in tow, but the Bills are only a piece or two away from likely becoming Super Bowl Champions, something Belichick is very good at accomplishing.

It could be a prime situation for Belichick if he hopes to win as many games as possible and has a high chance of making a deep postseason run, especially at his age. It could also be the place to be if he wants to wreak havoc on the team that he might feel unjustly fired him after 24 years.

That's a recipe for disaster for the Patriots, even more so as they enter the Jerod Mayo era and hope to get back to being a competitive team. Having to face off against the coach who brought the franchise the most success twice a year doesn't bode well for their chances in the division. It really would be a nightmare come to life for Patriots fans.

It's unclear if it's a team that Belichick would even be interested in if the job did become available, which looks like it could, considering the continued rumors regarding Sean McDermott's status in Buffalo. We'll unfortunately have to wait and see and maybe cross our fingers that it never becomes a reality.
