New England's injuries are beginning to pile up for their game against the 49ers on Sunday afternoon. The first is starting center David Andrews, who left early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury. As they head into halftime, he remains questionable to return, which isn't a great sign for his availability.

The next significant blow came with the ankle injury suffered by Caedan Wallace, who has been used as the starting left tackle during the season.

The rookie was expected to be a depth piece at the position for starter Demontrey Jacobs or as an extra lineman to increase the chances of offensive success, only for him to be seen carted to the locker room near the end of the second quarter.

Then came the announcement of Kyle Dugger sustaining an ankle injury, who was also seen being carted to the locker room before halftime.

It's a game that only nightmares are made of, which seemed like a fate the Patriots had already suffered in their Week 3 game against the Jets on Thursday Night Football. It was expected their day against the 49ers wasn't going to be easy, and so far, it's been even worse than imagined, given poor execution, playcalling, and piling up of injuries.

Although they weren't expected to win much this season, how they have been playing is disappointing, to say the least. Injuries are unavoidable, so some of their lackluster production because of that can't be put on their shoulders.

However, things seem to be going in the wrong direction with this team, who snuck out a win against the Bengals in the season opener. Everything clicked that day and it looked like they would be a formidable team, only to fall apart two weeks later.

Now, their matchup with the 49ers has all the makings of a devastating blowout that nobody wants to watch.
