Fifth round, 137th pick – TE Theo Johnson
Brock Bowers might be the new Trey McBride, but Johnson is the new—well, here’s the thing: It’s very difficult to find a comparison for Johnson. He’s 6 feet 6 inches tall and ran a 4.57-second 40-yard time. That’s the same time Puka Nacua clocked last year and the same time DeAndre Hopkins recorded back in 2013!
Johnson is close to George Kittle regarding athletic performance, but he recorded one more bench press rep than Kittle, and his 40-yard time is 0.05 seconds slower than Kittle’s. At Penn State, Johnson caught 77 passes, averaging 12.2 yards per reception, and hauled 12 touchdown passes.
He is projected to go anywhere between the 80th pick and the fifth round! That’s enough reason for optimism in the best-case scenario draft.
Good job generating a couple yards of separation by Penn State's TE Theo Johnson(#84). He does a good job winning at the line and remaining unphased through contact. Overthrow results in this not showing up in the box score, but can see some of that generational athleticism… pic.twitter.com/OyPt0mVcDl
