Patriots select Jason Bean, QB, Kansas with pick No. 231

Yes, one quarterback will be enough in this year's draft, but Bean looks like a special talent and will be a draft bargain. He’s projected to go undrafted, and PFF has him ranked as the 301st, which is frankly madness!

Bean is 6 feet 3 inches tall but a bit on the skinny side. He is listed at 205 lbs. on Kansas’ website, so he’s 13 lbs. lighter than C.J. Stroud. Stroud had a Pro Bowl left tackle pass protecting for him, though.

There’s not much chance the Patriots will have one of those in 2024.

Bean can seriously run. He clocked 22.4 mph on a run against Oklahoma last season; that would have been the fastest speed recorded in the NFL last season! He is very impatient in the pocket, though, and has a tendency just to break out.

But with more confidence in his offensive line, that should go. He’d be really fun in a wildcat offense in the NFL so he’s definitely, worth a seventh-round pick., so he’s definitely
