Patriots draft WR Jalen McMillen in round 3

The Pats accept a trade down with Green Bay in the third round. They trade their second-round pick, No. 68, and their 17th pick in the sixth round to Green Bay for their picks 88 and 91 in the third round. With the 88th pick from Green Bay, the Pats select wide receiver Jalen McMillen from Washington, where he caught passes from Michael Penix Jr.

The 6'1" tall and 191-pound McMillen caught 45 for 559 yards and 5 TDS in 2023. 247sports.com notes his abilities, among which is the all-important "separation",

"Has great size and length with elite speed. Two-sport star (also a D-I baseball prospect), easily gets separation from opponents. Has tremendous body control and a huge catch radius. Quick release off the line, ability to go up and get the ball. Difficult to jam at the line of scrimmage. Needs to add some weight for when drawing bigger, physical corners. Projects as immediate Power 5 starter and projects and first-day NFL draft pick."
