New England Patriots: Winners and losers from the 2023 NFL Draft
Losers: The quarterbacks

The first three picks for the New England Patriots were defensive players and it's clear that they didn't seem to put a huge priority on the offense. The team did add three talented players to this unit this offseason in Mike Gesicki, James Robinson, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but they all fall into that "good but not great" category that plagues the Patriots' offense currently.

New England had a multitude of chances to draft a potentially game-changing player at wide receiver, but they waited until the later rounds to do so. It was odd to see, but again, I think they seem to trust the offensive coaching staff to make it work with the players they have.

Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe won't be throwing to anything more than good players in 2023, but that good might not be good enough to keep the offense on pace with some of the other offenses in the AFC. This was a miss by the front office.
