10 quarterbacks who could be Patriots' starter in 2024
By Ryan Heckman
3. Malik Cunningham
This is a slim chance, here, but if the Patriots went with an offensive-minded coach and opted to fire Belichick, maybe Malik Cunningham has a shot. The mobility makes him an attractive option, but as a passer he definitely needs work. Again, this isn't very likely. But, Cunningham is an option at the very least.
4. Caleb Williams
If the Patriots somehow end up with the first overall pick, or if they made the move to trade up, then Caleb Williams is undoubtedly the pick. Even though he's had a questionable stretch at USC this year, the 2022 Heisman winner is still the clear-cut no. 1 pick for any quarterback-needy team.
This might be Belichick's shot at redemption, too. After Tom Brady left town, Belichick was exposed a bit. Maybe he does need a real, franchise quarterback in order to succeed. If that's the case, then Caleb Williams could be that guy to get Belichick back on top. There isn't much to say about Williams, other than he's shown it all on film.
