Decision Time: Is Mac Jones a better option than these 5 quarterbacks in 2024?

2. Malik Cunningham

Malik Cunningham is an intriguing quarterback option which the Patriots have yet to truly explore.

I'm not saying he's necessarily the answer, but the Patriots need to make some serious changes. That starts with their offensive scheme. Getting rid of Bill O'Brien would be a good start. From there, finding a more innovative mind to take over is the goal.

Then, maybe you see what you have in Cunningham over the offseason, even if he's brought back as just a backup option. In a fun, exciting and creative offense, Cunningham might just present more of a ceiling than we think.

Coming out of college, he did display the ability to be a solid passer if he was able to get in a rhythm. A lot of that rhythm happens when he's given the opportunity to use RPO style plays. Getting him into a situation where he can make a decision on whether to run or pass, and making those passes easier, quicker routes are what will make him a better quarterback.

Is he going to push the ball down field? Not necessarily. But, he is definitely an option. Now, is he a better option than Jones? That's a tough call. But, with a team looking like they'll be picking in the top three of the draft, how much does that matter?
