Somehow, cornerback has always been a strength for the Patriots. They simply know how to find, draft and develop guys into solid starters at the position. On one outside starting position stands Jonathan Jones, who is coming off his best season as a pro.

On the other side is first-round rookie Christian Gonzalez, out of Oregon, whom the Patriots were very fortunate to be in position to draft this year. Those two should form an excellent starting duo.

Behind the two outside starters are veterans Shaun Wade and Jack Jones.

The Patriots went heavy on cornerback in the draft this year, and sitting fifth and sixth on the outside, currently, are sixth-round pick Ameer Speed out of Michigan State and seventh-round pick Isaiah Bolden out of Jackson State.

Finally, veterans Quandre Mosley and Rodney Randle Jr. take the last two spots. Neither of those two will likely make the roster, quite frankly. But, Randle has yet to appear in an NFL game and would be the easiest guy to cut ties with.
