New England Patriots defensive stud has big plans as a Patriot
By Devin Hurst
In a recent interview with WBZ-TV's Dan Roche, New England Patriots star edge rusher Matthew Judon spends time at a glass-blowing studio in Providence Rhode Island. During the interview, the Patriots defensive star created a centerpiece bowl and talked about the Patriots upcoming training camp and his future as a Patriot.
The most noteworthy part of the interview is at the end when asked by Roche, "How comfortable are you in a Patriots uniform and how much do you like this organization?" Judon's response was music to Patriots fans' ears around the world. The Patriots leader of the defense responded with " I don't ever want to leave. I am finding stuff like this and making it home. Trying to be more part of the community. I honestly never want to leave; that's not my intent, forever. I want to retire here."
Last season Judon had an astounding 15.5 sacks for the Patriots to go along with two forced fumbles. He was the catalyst for a great defensive season for the Patriots causing havoc on opposing offenses. Since joining the Patriots from the Baltimore Ravens two years ago Judon has recorded 28 total sacks with 120 total tackles. Both seasons as a Patriot the veteran stud edge rusher made the Pro Bowl.
For the Patriots to have a good defensive season again in 2023 Judon will need to be the driving force, along with the rest of the pass rush. Last season Judon was voted 9th in Defensive Player of the Year voting across the entire league. Even in a mentor role, he helped bring along former Michigan Wolverine Josh Uche and helped him have his most successful season as a Patriot. Judon has been the best player on the defense since arriving and should be the biggest standout for the Patriots defense this season.
