After the shock settled about Bill Belichick leaving the Patriots last month, it was not surprising at all to hear he intended to continue coaching elsewhere in the league for the 2024 season. He was immediately connected to the Atlanta Falcons, having several interviews for their vacant head coach position with team owner Arthur Blank.

But as soon as that came about, it fizzled, with the Falcons choosing to hire Raheem Morris over the accomplished coach, leaving Belichick still hunting for his next gig.

At the time, there were only a few remaining openings around the league, and unfortunately for him, Belichick was not hired for any of them. It's still a bit weird to remember he won't be on any sideline next season, but it looks like he's willing to hold off until next year to continue his coaching career.

And apparently, several teams have already been in contact about hiring him next year.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, as soon as the news was reported about the Falcons forgoing hiring Belichick, many team owners reached out to him to express their interest in hiring him next offseason.

"Belichick does want to continue to coach and the expectation right now within the league is Belichick is coaching somewhere come 2025. In fact, I am told shortly after the Falcons opted to hire Raheem Morris over Belichick several weeks ago, multiple owners reached out to Belichick about next year's hiring cycle."

Although it's not totally unexpected to hear this, since Belichick is the most accomplished coach in the history of the NFL, it is interesting that owners with coaches under contract are already expecting to move on from them next year, hence reaching out to the former Patriots coach.

We knew of at least one owner who likely made the call since he basically confirmed it himself: Jerry Jones. The Cowboys were a potential landing spot for Belichick with Mike McCarthy's future up in the air, but Jones decided to keep him for at least one more season to finish his contract and left the door open to hire Belichick in his place next year.

It would be interesting to know the other teams that made their interests known, but we'll probably have to wait and see until next offseason to get those answers.
