Matthew Judon's harsh take on Patriots fans isn't entirely wrong

Amidst the chaos in hoping to reach an extension with the Patriots, we've been hearing from Matthew Judon alot more in recent weeks than we ever have. From posting more on social media to speaking with reporters and podcasters, the pass rusher has been making his feelings known a lot lately.

One of his more memorable moments since the start of training camp came when he spoke to the media after a practice nearly two weeks ago when Judon was almost pleading with the Patriots to offer him an extension he would agree to.

He's made it very clear he wants to remain on the team and even retire in New England, so this was the latest opportunity he saw fit to make the case for the team to allow that to happen.

But his appearance on the "Shut Up Marc" podcast might take the cake for the most noteworthy things he has said this offseason. Besides discussing the situation surrounding his contract negotiations, Judon also shared a bit of a harsh take on how he views Patriots fans, which most probably won't take too kindly.

However, it's hard to say he was entirely wrong with what he had to say, even if it isn't a super complimentary take.

Matthew Judon's take on Patriots fans probably won't be received well

When discussing how fans in New England have responded to the 20 years of unimaginable success, Judon shared his belief that it has jaded them and led them to dislike their own team when they lose instead of maintaining rivalries with the Bills, Dolphins or Jets.

While he may be primarily focused on the fans he sees on social media, he isn't completely wrong in his assessment, as many Patriots fans became accustomed to winning. Therefore, they have a difficult time when that's not happening.

"I (expletive) with y'all. Y'all just been so spoiled from winning -- consistently winning -- that y'all don't dislike the other team. Y'all dislike our team cause we losing. Y'all just used to beating them other players and still enjoying seeing them. ...I think the only two teams that the fans have a genuine dislike for is the Buffalo Bills and Miami (Dolphins). They don't dislike the Jets. Y'all beat the Jets for 30 straight years!"

It is a common issue among fans who take to platforms like Twitter/X and Instagram to express their frustrations with the team over every teeny tiny thing. Judon has likely fallen victim to this treatment due to the ongoing battle to get a contract extension, with some fans hoping he gets traded just to end it all.

But even outside of just Judon, Patriots fans have become bitter and impatient since the Tom Brady era ended in 2020. Although it was the end of a historic 20 year dominance over the rest of the league, not winning many games or making the playoffs every year hasn't sat well with many fans, which is understandable to an extent.

On the other hand, all good things come to an end, and it takes time to get back to that level of success again. That's the situation the Patriots are in now with the start of the Jerod Mayo and Drake Maye era.
