Bailey Zappe

Zappe was a fourth-round pick for the Patriots (137th overall) in the 2022 draft. He has played in 7 NFL games and started two of them.

Pros:

Bailey Zappe had one of the greatest seasons in college football history for a quarterback. During his senior season at Western Kentucky, he broke the NCAA record for passing yards (5,967) and passing touchdowns (62). He threw just 11 interceptions and completed 69.1% of his passes. He was undefeated in his two starts and four games last season, posting a completion percentage of 70.1%. He showed great pocket presence and delivered a tight spiral that was easy to catch for his receivers.

Cons:

Zappe does not boast elite arm strength and does not possess the ideal size for a pocket passer. He is not really mobile. He has looked poor in every appearance for the Patriots this season, completing just 40% of his passes and throwing a costly interception, but that could be why he was tossed into games without getting any practice reps in during the week. Belichick needs to give him first-team snaps if he is expected to play this weekend.
