With free agency well underway, a few Patriots players are enjoying playing general manager on social media by trying to recruit some of the top names available. Matthew Judon has led the charge over the last few years to not much success, and now Kendrick Bourne is getting involved in hopes of reuniting with one of his former 49ers teammates.

The receiver took to social media shortly after it was announced San Francisco would release defensive end Arik Armstead.

Bourne tweeted a simple message telling him to come to the Patriots. Now that the new league year has started to make his release official, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see it come to fruition.

Armstead could be a good addition to the defense, not only on the defensive line but as a help in the pass rush. Judon has been the leading contributor in that regard by a mile, and although there is hope that Josh Uche will revert to his 2022 production, there's no saying whether it will happen.

Then there's Keion White, who will be entering his second NFL season and will hopefully have a breakout year getting after the quarterback. The team also signed Armon Watts as another depth piece to boost their pass rush, but he's also unproven and not exactly the type of game-changing player the defense needs.

So adding a player like Armstead, who isn't necessarily equal to Judon but has a season-high of ten sacks, shouldn't be out of the question. If Eliot Wolf could bring him in on a cheaper deal, it feels like a win/win situation.

Regardless if it happens, the Patriots do need to address their pass rushers overall. Judon cannot be the only reliable player to slow opposing quarterbacks down, especially after spending most of the 2023 season off the field due to injury.

Quarterbacks are only going to get tougher to defend, and relying on one player will not get the job done, no matter how good he is. Armstead might not be the guy, but they need to find the one who is ASAP.
