After the Patriots had their preseason debuts against the Panthers last week and left Gillette Stadium with the first win of the Jerod Mayo era, they are now preparing to welcome a far more threatening opponent to Foxboro: the Philadelphia Eagles.

The teams had a joint practice earlier this week and it was a good measuring stick to show just how far the Patriots have to go until they are considered one of the best in the league. The Eagles have rebuilt their roster over the last several years, putting together a dominating defense and weaponized offense around young quarterback Jalen Hurts.

It has brought them a lot of success and even a Super Bowl appearance, all of which the new regime in New England hopes to accomplish with Drake Maye under center.

All of this makes Thursday night's game even more intriguing to watch, especially since the regular season is just around the corner now.
