Going into the Week 4 game against the 49ers, it felt like not much more could go wrong for the Patriots, but boy, were we wrong. The unthinkable has happened with the announcement of David Andrews' shoulder injury requiring season-ending surgery, just in time for the team's next divisional matchup on Sunday.

It's a massive blow to an already questionable offensive line, and now Jacoby Brissett will have even more to deal with every time he takes the field. And the timing is even worse than the lead-up to last week's game because it felt like the Patriots might actually have a chance against the Dolphins after their embarrassing effort against the Titans on Monday Night Football.

It's possible that could still be the case, especially since they are currently on their third-string quarterback and are down several important players. But the optimism is certainly not there.

There is a silver lining, however, and that is the Patriots will play back-to-back home games in a row before facing the Jaguars in London in Week 7, giving them a good stretch of no travel before a big trip.

The rest of the season will be quite the test for the team's morale and motivation to be as competitive as possible when everything seems to be crumbling around them, even more so for the new coaching staff, who will need to work hard to keep them afloat.
