Former Patriots' QB Tom Brady speaks about his approaching broadcasting career
The former New England Patriots' quarterback is slated to begin his broadcasting career after the 2023 NFL season, and his comments indicate that his playing career is definitely over. There always seem to be rumbling swirling around that Tom Brady could somehow come out of retirement and suit up once again in the NFL. He retired after the 2022 season, his third and final with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady is the most successful quarterback in the history of the NFL, and 90% of that success came with the New England Patriots. He left the Patriots after the 2019 season and headed to Tampa Bay, where he won the Super Bowl in 2020, his first year with his new team. Brady said he wanted to play until he was 45 years old, and he did. I don't think anyone should have been surprised that he retired.
And even though he's said pretty clearly that he isn't coming back, people like to speculate that he could come out of retirement. He is now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and some tin-foil hat people have conjured up a scenario in their head where Brady comes out of retirement to suit up for the Raiders in 2023, again throwing water on Jimmy Garoppolo's NFL career.
""I was very blessed to play for as long as I did, and I loved it," the all-time great said on his Let's Go! podcast on Monday (3:15 mark). "Now I get to see other guys do it, and I also get to see football from a different perspective. I'll be on Fox next year, so I have a chance to really sit back and watch and learn a different career. I'll need a lot of help from a lot of different people.""
- Tom Brady
It seems like Brady is set to take the 2023 NFL season to soak up knowledge from the other broadcasters who work for FOX. Honestly, Tom Brady seems like the type who would do very well in the booth. Former NFL player Greg Olsen and Tony Romo have both had very successful careers as broadcasters, and I think Brady could follow suit.
Wouldn't it be cool to eventually see Tom Brady broadcast Patriots' games?
