The injury bug appears to be catching on in New England right as they are set to take on one of their most difficult opponents on the 2024 schedule. Their first injury report ahead of Week 4 is lengthy, and although there are some silver linings to the names on the list (and those who aren't), it's not exactly good news to see the list get longer.

The good news is that starting guard Sidy Sow is back on the practice field after missing the first three games due to an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason. Getting him back into the lineup could benefit the offensive line and Jacoby Brissett, who has been dealing with the highest pressure rate in the NFL.

It's especially significant since many other offensive linemen are listed with injuries, with the three starting left tackles continuing to deal with ailments ahead of the 49ers game on Sunday.

Another sliver of good news is seeing the full participation of Michael Onwenu and Jabrill Peppers, two pillars of the Patriots team whose absences would surely be felt if sidelined for any length of time.

The 49ers also released their first injury report of the week, including many starters. One noticeable update is quarterback Brock Purdy's full participation. The Patriots should monitor his availability, as it is still not set in stone for Sunday's matchup.

Who is added and removed from their injury report in the days leading up to the game will likely provide whether or not the Patriots have even a small chance of beating the struggling 1-2 team in Santa Clara.

Although they haven't looked like a good team over the last two weeks, especially against the Jets on Thursday Night Football, the 49ers being down some of their biggest stars is an aspect that works in their favor, especially defensively.
