First Patriots injury report for Week 3 is a disaster ahead of TNF game

The Patriots are coming off their first season loss to the Seahawks in Week 2 and need to immediately shift their focus to their first divisional matchup against the Jets on Thursday Night Football.

It's far from an ideal situation, given how poorly the team played on Sunday, and it doesn't help that injuries are starting to stockpile so early in the year.

Although they didn't practice on Monday, their first injury report ahead of their next game doesn't bode well for their chances to add another win to their schedule. An Aaron Rodgers-led Jets team is considered a Super Bowl favorite, so they're going to need all the help they can get to (hopefully) hand them another loss.

On top of it all, the Patriots have a lot they need to improve between Sunday's game and Thursday night, especially on offense. The lack of a passing game would be the best place to start since overusing Antonio Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson is not a smart move.

Incorporating rookie Ja'Lynn Polk and DeMario Douglas would create far more opportunities for New England to move the football down the field and increase its chances of winning. However, there are concerns regarding Jacoby Brissett's ability to do so and Alex Van Pelt's play calling.

It's a lot to try and fix in just a few short days, even less than that because the game is in New York, but they must adjust their game plan as soon as possible. Otherwise, we shouldn't expect many more wins this season.

In the meantime, it would be great to see the long list of injured players shrink before Thursday's game.

The news just got worse for the Patriots as they prepare to face off with the Jets on Thursday Night Football. Ian Rapoport just announced they have lost a defensive captain for the rest of the season due to an injury suffered in Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks.
