6 dream trades Patriots could get done to prove a new regime is in town
Because the Patriots are still loaded in cap space and have a few areas on the roster that need to be dealt with before the season begins, there is still a chance that the new regime led by Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf will pull off some big trades to put their team in the best position to win this fall.
Although they haven't yet made any trades to signify they are interested in doing so, the duo in charge have implied they would over the past few months, especially for a wide receiver.
Under that assumption, it's easy to dream up some blockbuster trades to really demonstrate Bill Belichick is no longer calling the shots. It would be quite a way to welcome the Jerod Mayo era in New England and prove they intend to turn the franchise back into a winning and successful organization.
That leads us to dream up some massive trades that would put the Patriots over the top in 2024 and beyond. They might not be legitimate possibilities, but accomplishing any of these trades would immediately usher in a new vibe in Foxboro.

WR Brandon Aiyuk
At the top of the list for most Patriots fans regarding dream trades would be one for a clear top-name wide receiver, and who better than Brandon Aiyuk?
The negotiations between him and the 49ers continue to drag on, with conflicting reports providing updates on what's going on behind the scenes. Some suggest a deal is imminent, as the team and Aiyuk want to stay together, while others claim the receiver still wants to be traded.
Since nothing has been set in stone yet, the idea of Aiyuk being traded to the Patriots is still plausible, given the amount of cap space they still have and their need for a receiver of his caliber. He would immediately become the top weapon on the rebuilding offense and remain that whenever Drake Maye officially takes over under center.
The price will be high, as rumors stated the 49ers wanted nothing less than a first-round draft pick. But if Mayo and Wolf could manipulate the trade in their favor, like potentially offering a second-rounder and maybe a player, the price might not feel as steep.
No matter what, pulling off this trade would likely be worth it for both teams in the long run. The 49ers get a great return for a player they didn't intend to extend beyond the 2024 season, and the Patriots finally add a game-changing receiver they've needed for several years.
The best part is that he's only 26 years old and on the brink of having his best season yet if given the chance to be the WR1. What's not to like?
