5 wide receivers Patriots can only hope fall to them in the third round
Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton spent his first two years in college at Georgia and, after winning the national championship in 2021, his final two years at Alabama. Throughout his college career, he caught 132 passes for 2,376 yards and four rushing attempts for 50 yards. Burton caught 23 touchdown passes throughout his career, with 15 coming in the last two seasons.
The 22-year-old didn’t have a great Combine; that’s probably because he’s more of a competitor than a pure athlete. And he has got a bit of a Napoleon complex, as he’s listed at 6 feet tall but looked short compared to his Alabama teammates.
Burton plays like he has a point to prove, even though his talent shines brightly. Whoever drafts him is going to have to ensure they harness his aggression. His 4.45-second 40 time was in the 69th percentile, but his broad jump was in the 98th percentile at the combine! He does have some fast-twitch traits, but he needs to channel his energy into a contest to maximize his potential.
He could be taken as high as the 41st pick but also fall to the 87th. One thing is for sure: he’ll bring touchdowns and excitement wherever he lands.
