5 late-round quarterbacks who are worth a gamble for the Patriots
By Rhys Knott
Jason Bean
Bean spent three years at North Texas before transferring to Kansas for another three years. The man loves college. And he’s a total excitement machine. He's great to watch, but absolutely terrifying for his coaches. He has no qualms about throwing into coverage, which can be both a blessing and a curse.
He can be quite an inconsistent passer; he can throw accurate deep passes. But he sometimes struggles with shorter, touch throws. And he occasionally works through progressions too quickly. But patience can be learned. Coaches would rather a QB who is “too aware” rather than one who sticks with one route and hopes the receiver gets open.
Bean is 303rd on PFF’s big board. But it would be interesting to see him playing in preseason. His skill set figures to transfer better than most appear to think.
