5 late-round quarterbacks who are worth a gamble for the Patriots
By Rhys Knott
Devin Leary
Leary spent four years at North Carolina State before transferring to Kentucky for his senior year. And he is an exceptional passer; Leary has a seriously quick release. He can throw passes all over the field. And he has excellent chemistry with his receivers.
He can also make plays, which came in handy behind an inconsistent Wildcat offensive line.
He’s not as athletic as some in the class, and he can sometimes fix on his primary receiver for a bit too long. As a result, he can take time to decide to pull the ball down and take off. But Leary is 295th on PFF’s big board, and he’s a much better playmaker than they give him credit for.
