5 free agents the Patriots could still sign before the 2024 season
By Rhys Knott
LB Bud Dupree
Bud Dupree also began his NFL career in the tough AFC North, but he spent six seasons with the Steelers. He then moved on to the Titans where he only started 17 games in two seasons.
Most recently, he spent the 2023 season in Atlanta, starting 16 games and recording 6.5 sacks and eight tackles for a loss in those games.
The veteran linebacker is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 269 lbs. He’d form an imposing set of bookends opposite Judon. At 31, he is the same age as Judon, and while there’s no lack of experience amongst the linebacking corps, there is a lack of production.
CB J.C Jackson
The team said they were interested in re-signing Jackson, but they haven’t yet. Jackson rejoined the Patriots from the Chargers in October but ended the season on the reserve/no-football illness list.
Jackson was reportedly dealing with some mental health issues. If the Patriots believe Jackson can be an essential part of the team going forward, they should bring him back soon and support him during his recovery.
