4 overrated remaining free agents the Patriots should avoid
J.C Jackson
Jackson was the incendiary leaving present Bill Belichick left in New England for somebody else to sort out. Jackson is only 28, but he has more baggage than most 28-year-olds.
For starters, he has only played one entire season in his seven years in the league. And last year, he was traded back to the Patriots after some at the Chargers said he was “lackadaisical” at practice and didn’t respond to coaching.
ESPN’s Kris Rhim reported that team sources had said Jackson approached meetings and practice “without a sense of urgency.” And when he returned to New England, PFF ranked him 112th out of 115 cornerbacks. On the 18th of December, Jackson’s agent told reporters that he was dealing with “mental health issues.”
This all came after Jackson failed to turn up in court in September, and a warrant was issued for arrest. That was yet another legal issue for the cornerback, who has had several run-ins with the law, beginning with an arrest for armed robbery when he was in Florida in 2015.
Eventually, the Patriots released Jackson in January. But it’s being reported the team is very interested in bringing him back. You have to ask why.
