3 reasons why the Patriots are already doomed in the 2023 NFL season

2. Mac Jones is (at best) the AFC version of Kirk Cousins

I think the peak Mac Jones version that we could see in 2023 is just the AFC version of Kirk Cousins. Now, to be fair, Kirk Cousins is a very productive quarterback and has been for years in the NFL. However, he's not an elite passer and doesn't appear to be good enough to consistently make the playoffs.

He's plenty good enough to be a long-term starter and to not get people fired, but that's about it. I don't think that type of QB production is what the New England Patriots need at this point. That simply isn't good enough for this conference and division, which features two young, high-end passers in Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa.

Mac Jones might end up throwing for 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions this year, which would be great, but will Jones help spark the offense enough to make a dent in their tough schedule? I don't think so. Again, if I am wrong about the Patriots and Mac Jones, you'll 100% see an article authored by myself admitting I was wrong.

However, Mac Jones is clearly a limited passer in certain aspects, and that might have already doomed the New England Patriots for 2023.
