3. A first-round QB in the 2024 NFL Draft

The New England Patriots currently hold the 7th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Depending on how the rest of their season goes, which does contain a plethora of tough games, the Pats might be able to squeeze into the top five of the draft. Getting into the top five might give them a great chance to draft a blue-chip QB prospect.

Right now, the top dog is Caleb Williams, and I think unless something major happens, he will declare for the draft and go #1 overall, likely to the Chicago Bears. There is still a ton of time before next April, but I think a good rule of thumb is that the Pats could land a top QB prospect if they are picking within the top 10.

Perhaps they end up falling in love with Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr, or Quinn Ewers? I mean, why not take a shot, right? In the NFL, if you do not have a QB, you won't win games. It's as simple as that. Mac Jones is nothing special at QB. He's probably the 24th-best QB in the NFL. I do think he could be a nice spot-starter for any franchise, but to me, the Patriots are wasting time by continuing to try to make it work with him.
