3 positions the Patriots could double-dip in the 2024 Draft

Tight end

Pharoah Brown and Mike Gesicki departed in free agency, Hunter Henry re-signed, and Austin Hooper arrived from Las Vegas. But neither of them is young nor particularly fast. So, Jared Wiley would be a welcome addition.

TCU product Wiley ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash at the combine, which was in the 85th percentile. It’s also the same time Willie Snead clocked in 2014. Wiley began his college career at Texas and transferred to TCU after three years.

Throughout his career, he caught 90 passes, recorded 1,013 receiving yards, and caught 15 touchdown passes. He is ranked 269th by PFF, but some are suggesting he could be the second tight end selected at the draft. If he is available on the third day, the Patriots could really use his athleticism.

Brevyn Spann-Ford is ranked 291st by PFF and is expected to be a sixth-round pick. That would be perfect for the Patriots. Spann-Ford would be the perfect replacement for Pharoah Brown, too. According to the University of Minnesota's official website, he is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 270 lbs. roughly the same size as Darnell Washington, who blocked very well for the Steelers as a rookie.

But he’s not just a blocking tight end (neither is Pharaoh Brown, really). Spann-Ford caught 95 passes in his five years in college and totaled 1.061 receiving yards. If he falls to the sixth-round, he will be a real bargain for one lucky team.
