Special teams
Outside of the offense, the special teams was the unit that couldn't handle any significant changes this offseason after struggling to be consistent and impactful in a positive way for the past few seasons.
They suffered a huge loss with Matthew Slater's retirement, but the departures of Pharaoh Brown and Cody Davis were also big blows in their effort to improve.
Although Brown was only with the team for the 2023 season, he became a vital part of New England's historically good special teams, so his absence will be felt. The same can be said about Davis, who has been one of the longest-tenured players on the team, especially with the third unit.
Now that free agency is quieting down, there aren't as many players available to sign, but Eliot Wolf still has plenty of cash to spend. He will need to bring in more talent over the next few weeks, specifically for special teams, or they will continue to be a liability next season and likely be the cause of most lost games.
