2. Think about Chase Young or Montez Sweat

Not that the Patriots necessarily need to make a trade deadline move along their defensive front, it's something they should consider, as reports indicate that the Washington Commanders would be willing to trade Chase Young and/or Montez Sweat for the right price. Both players are free agents at the end of the year and it'd be a pretty interesting situation if they extended each one. Interesting means unlikely in this scenario.

Chase Young played in just 12 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but is on pace to have a career year in 2023 and is still just 24 years old. Sweat was a first-round pick back in 2019 and has been a very good pass-rushing force each year of his career. With Matthew Judon's future not certain, and with Josh Uche a free agent in 2024 and not as good as Young or Sweat, the Patriots should look at this possibility.
