The Patriots did their due diligence in free agency in "weaponizing" their offense, adding Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins to their wide receiver room. While some still consider Chris Godwin, who chose to stay in Tampa Bay, as the ultimate "what-if," IIt was wise for New England not to hand out big money to a guy coming off a fractured ankle.
Work remains for Eliot Wolf and Mike Vrabel to add another guy or two to the room via the upcoming draft, with the first round set for April 24. The Patriots can't afford to swing and miss here, given they haven't drafted well over the last several years, especially in the wide receiver department
Wide receiver options the Patriots can't pass on in the 2025 Draft
Travis Hunter
It's really simple. If the Heisman Trophy winner from Colorado is at the No. 4 pick, you take him. You don't even hesitate. You give the index card to Roger Goodell within 10 seconds of going on the clock, and get Hunter on that stage and into a Patriots hat.
Hunter stands head and shoulders above the rest in an otherwise mediocre draft at the top. Pairing Hunter with Diggs would give Drake Maye two dynamic weapons on the outside that defenses would have to respect. Hunter's ball skills mirror those of Diggs, and he runs pristine routes. We all know the Patriots need a left tackle, but if Hunter is at No. 4, you take the best player available.
Tet McMillan
It would undoubtedly be a reach if the Patriots took the Arizona prospect with the fourth pick, but if they trade back further in the first round or move up from the second round into the first, McMillan could be a logical choice.
While McMillan's speed is his biggest question mark heading into the draft, his hands and physicality allow him to create strong releases at the line of scrimmage. Patriots' fans may worry that he's just a 2.0 version of N'Keal Harry, but if New England misses out on Hunter, perhaps McMillan is the best choice.
Emeka Egbuka
Ohio State has produced quality NFL wide receivers over the years, and Egbuka could be the next one up.
He's a versatile guy who can play both inside and outside, and like Diggs, runs crisp routes and wins at the line of scrimmage more often than not. No Patriots' receiver has been able to say that for quite some time, and New England needs another guy who can give Maye a big target, whether it's down the field or at the sticks.
Egbuka is a big reason Ohio State made a strong run through the College Football Playoff en route to the National Championship. If he somehow slides to the Patriots early in the second round, New England could be set up to pounce and steal.
