One of the less exciting aspects of the preseason is the risk of injuries and the growing list of those who are unable to suit up in Week 1. Patriots' rival Miami Dolphins were hit with the injury bug in a big way, and second-year running back Jaylen Wright is one of those who will miss time due to a leg injury.

Mike McDaniel hasn't brought as much success to the Dolphins organization as some may like, but he has helped develop Tua Tagovailoa and company into a very strong offense.

One underrated aspect of what he's been able to accomplish is forming a strong run game, where the name of the running back matters less, which is essential given starter De'Von Achane's injury history.

The 22-year-old Tennessee product had 68 carries for 249 yards last season, but his work against the Patriots is far more concerning. Despite a pedestrian overall season, he recorded season highs in both carries and yards against New England, with 13 touches for 86 yards on the ground. The effort helped lead the Dolphins to a gritty 15-10 win over New England in Foxborough.

Patriots might get a break well before their Week 3 matchup with the Dolphins

Wright is sure to be out for a few weeks, likely meaning he'll miss the game against the Patriots in Week 3. The aforementioned Achane is a star, but he is nursing a calf injury and has shown that injuries aren't uncommon for him.

With Wright no longer available as a replacement or to spell their starters, they have to turn to other options: sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon II, veteran Jeff Wilson, or former Patriot JaMycal Hasty. As RB3-5, these might not be so bad, but relying on any to play a major role doesn't seem like a great idea.

Now, let's be clear, Miami's offense still has plenty to offer. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are a dangerous pair of receivers, Darren Waller came out of retirement at tight end, and even last year's sixth-round pick, Malik Washington, showed upside.

They won't be an easy offense to face, but if Achane's historic injuries persist, the Patriots could be bailed out of having to stop Wright, who was their kryptonite last year.
