The New England Patriots have started the year off on the wrong foot. After a dismal fourth quarter from Drake Maye in Week 1, the team collapsed against the Seattle Seahawks in their second straight game. They nabbed their first win after an uninspiring 20-3 win over the Steelers, but went back to their losing ways in Week 3 with a 35-6 blowout loss to the Jaguars.
The Patriots sit third in the AFC East, and compared with season-opening expectations, they've been the division's most disappointing team. With the Jets finding steady quarterback play in Geno Smith and the Dolphins playing better than expected despite their 0-3 record, the Patriots' division could be tougher than expected.
The Bills, of course, remain their top rival for the division crown.
With the Bills off to a 3-0 start and Joe Brady and Josh Allen's offense firing on all cylinders, Buffalo should have no shortage of confidence. The Bills' offense has averaged over 33 PPG through three games, with Allen accounting for 11 touchdowns.
Less than a month into the season, a trade idea circulated that would give Allen another weapon: a former top-5 pick.
Marvin Harrison Jr. could be traded to the Bills - which is a nightmare for the Patriots
In a recent Bleacher Report piece, Moe Moton suggests that the Cardinals' wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. could be moved during the season, with the Bills among the five teams he mentions as potential landing spots.
Specifically, Moton notes that Buffalo could activate Harrison's fifth-year option at the end of the season, giving Harrison two years following 2026 to work with Allen.
While the Bills' offense has been elite thus far, another weapon would be a welcome addition. DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Josh Palmer, and Keon Coleman are the outside options, while Dalton Kincaid has been a weapon at tight end.
The Patriots struggled to defend a Moore-less Buffalo last season, conceding 27.5 PPG to the Bills across their two matchups. Harrison Jr. wouldn't make life easier on Zak Kuhr and company.
Marvin Harrison Jr. isn't likely to to be available as of now
Some Cardinals fans have coped by describing Harrison as a "sacrificial X", but his lack of production points to the fact that he may just not be the player fans thought he might be coming out of Ohio State.
Over his last five games, going back to 2025, he's managed just 87 yards on 13 targets. In two of those games, he didn't have a catch. He also hasn't had a 100-yard game since October 2024, his rookie season.
While his production has been poor, quarterback play hasn't helped. Nonetheless, both Trey McBride and Michael Wilson have made the most of their opportunities while on the same squad. A new quarterback in Allen could certainly help Harrison's career, but it's hard to imagine the Cardinals would move him for anything less than a second-round pick.
Since Buffalo sent a second-round pick to Chicago for Moore in the spring, the Bills may not be willing to do it again or otherwise look for a more established wideout than Harrison.
While a trade isn't impossible, it seems unlikely the Bills and Cardinals would reach a point where they both feel the value is fair. If Harrison continues to struggle, the Bills would likely be unwilling to give up any significant capital for a player who could be as low as their fourth receiving option.
Alternatively, if Harrison can break out, Matt LaFleur will no doubt have the 24-year-old in his long-term plans.
Josh Allen gaining more weapons is never good for the Patriots, but the likelihood of Harrison joining the Bills seems low enough for now that fans shouldn't worry too much.
