There are a lot of questions surrounding the Patriots' receiving corps ahead of the 2025 season, and who will make the cut beyond those considered roster locks already. Beyond Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, and Kyle Williams, the wide receiver room is up for grabs, with a few players leading the charge to make the team.
Among the more prominent names continues to be Kayshon Boutte, who showed exactly the kind of player he could be last season despite the unfavorable conditions the team was dealing with. He has been impressive all offseason long and is ensuring that the new regime won't be able to overlook him when it's time to trim the roster for the season ahead.
Boutte has been consistent since spring practices and has piled up some of the best plays over the last few months, including against the Vikings' defense on Thursday.

At this point, it seems fair top assume that he won't be going anywhere for the 2025 season.
The Patriots' receiving corps is starting to take shape, with Kayshon Boutte leading the charge
After the disaster of last season, it was beyond clear that the Patriots' offense needed a drastic makeover, with the wide receiver room being among the neediest. That's what led them to sign Stefon Diggs in free agency, despite concerns regarding his status coming off an ACL injury, and Mack Hollins.
It's also what interested them in taking Kyle Williams in the third round, and even dual-threat running back TreVeyon Henderson in the second.

That already is a big upgrade over what Drake Maye had to work with last year, so the rise of Boutte this offseason after how impressive he looked last year is significant. Add him to the room along with DeMario Douglas, and the offense could be the best we have seen in many years.
Boutte is proving he's a quick learner and can be Maye's explosive option when needed, especially since he has consistently made big plays at practice over several defenders. Those are the kinds of plays the Patriots were lacking last year, among other things, and that shouldn't be a problem this year with players like Boutte and Diggs on the roster.
There's a good chance we could see the best season yet out of Boutte if he continues to perform the way he has at practice. At this point, there's no reason to believe he won't make the team, and it would be a huge mistake if they let him go. He's demonstrating the potential that many felt heading into the draft, as he was previously considered a first-round talent.
The Patriots could finally be getting that kind of production out of him, which couldn't be happening at a better time, as they hope to be a competitive team again as soon as this fall.
