As the New England Patriots prepare to play the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, most people have likely heard by now that Tom Brady doesn’t have a dog in the fight. Yes, the Tom Brady who spent 20 years with the Patriots, won six Super Bowls with the franchise, and currently has a statue outside New England’s stadium, isn’t pulling for his former team.
That admission sent shock waves through Patriots Nation and drew the attention of a lot of Brady’s former teammates.
Vince Wilfork, the five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle who won two Super Bowls for the Patriots during his 11 years with the team, was one of those teammates.
During a Wednesday appearance at radio row, Wilfork was asked who he had in Sunday’s big game. The former defender made a face that essentially said, "Are you really asking me that question?" That led to an impassioned rant from Wilfork, where he called out Brady, saying, “If you're a Patriot for life, you know what it is. Don't give me that political bullcrap.”

Vince Wilfork calls out Tom Brady for straddling the fence ahead of Super Bowl
Wilfork acknowledged that Brady could’ve refrained from predicting a winner because his mind may tell him that Seattle is going to win. Even still, the former defender said, “If you don’t think we’re gonna win, just pick Seattle then. Don’t straddle the fence.” Wilfork was visibly agitated, so it was clear he meant every word.
He wasn't alone, though. Former Patriots corner Asante Samuel, who played five years with the team and won two Super Bowls, took to social media to blast his former quarterback. In a series of five posts directed at Brady, Samuel said he was highly disappointed in the former quarterback for not rooting for one of his former teammates, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
The former corner went on to say that Brady can’t be the only one who wins championships, and that he hopes the legendary quarterback isn’t masking any jealousy for the current New England team.
Tedy Bruschi also weighed in on the conversation, and while he didn’t go at Brady directly, he simply said, “I got a big a** dog in the race,” emphasizing that Vrabel, with whom he was teammates for eight years, is like a brother to him.
Brady hasn’t responded to any of these comments or walked his initial statement back. So, as New England returns to a familiar spot: the Super Bowl, Tom Brady finds himself in an unfamiliar position: on the receiving end of Patriots Nation’s ire.
