The New England Patriots have returned for training camp, and they’re starting the year off with some great news. When the Patriots take the field on Wednesday for their first practice as a full team, veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs will be on the field practicing as well. That’s significant because the wideout tore his ACL last season, so his availability early in the year was up in the air. However, it was reported on Tuesday that Diggs is cleared for full participation.
The receiver tore his ACL in October during his time with the Houston Texans, so it’s pretty incredible that he’s already back and ready to go in late July. However, Diggs has been working hard all offseason, and he has made it clear on numerous occasions that he is feeling good. Still, the Patriots will be smart with his return, as they plan to monitor his reps early on.

Stefon Diggs is cleared for Patriots training camp after ACL injury
Prior to the knee injury, Diggs had played in eight games with the Texans, catching 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns. The four-time Pro Bowl receiver was well on his way to another productive season in year 10, but that was cut short. Now, he’s healthy and in New England, hoping to help Drake Maye like he helped C.J. Stroud in his second season last year.
Maye and the Patriots are coming off a four-win season, but the quarterback had a promising rookie season, completing 66.6% of his passes for 2,276 yards and 15 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He also ran the ball for an additional 421 yards and two touchdowns.
With Mike Vrabel taking over as head coach, and a ton of new players on the roster, like Diggs, the Patriots are hoping to better support their talented young quarterback and get back to their winning ways.
