Ty Law's stamp on the New England Patriots is one of the biggest in the history of the franchise. Not only was the Hall of Fame cornerback a key piece of three Super Bowl championship teams, but his interception return for a touchdown set the tone for New England's surprise victory over the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
Law has also been one of the biggest cheerleaders for second-year Patriots' signal caller Drake Maye, proclaiming recently that New England "has its guy" in reference to Maye, whose sophomore campaign has produced great results through five games.
In the wake of the Patriots' monumental 23-20 win over the Bills in Buffalo last week, Law is taking things a step further and believes Maye and company have what it takes to unseat the Bills atop the AFC East. Not only that, but could Maye be an MVP sleeper? Law believes so.

Upcoming schedule suggests Patriots could prove Law to be correct
When we look at things from a realistic standpoint, the Bills are the class of the AFC East, in Super Bowl or bust mode, and the Patriots are trusting the process after going an aggregate 8-26 over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
But if you want to look at things from a rosy picture - or even Law's perspective - the Patriots' schedule suggests that a run at the division is not impossible.
New England's next three games - at New Orleans, at Tennessee, and at home against Cleveland - are against one-win teams, and Spencer Rattler, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel aren't exactly Drew Brees, Steve McNair, or Bernie Kosar. The Patriots should win all three and be 6-2 heading into November.
November's schedule is favorable as well. While a Nov. 9 trip to Tampa Bay poses a challenge, the Falcons are in rebuild mode, the Jets are the Jets, the Bengals are close to blowing it up with Joe Burrow sidelined with turf toe, and the Giants don't pose a major threat with a rookie quarterback.
Add that all up, and the Patriots should be right in the thick of the division race come its Week 14 bye, which comes before the rematch with Buffalo in Foxborough. The early-December game against the Ravens in Baltimore is looking more and more winnable thanks to Lamar Jackson's hamstring issues and a Ravens' defense that can't stop a nosebleed.
Will Law's prognostication be proven true? That remains to be seen. At the beginning of the season, it would've been taken as a homerism hot take, but the way the Patriots are playing, Law may be on to something, and the Bills should be looking in their rearview mirrors.
