Patriots hold key offseason options to fix their offensive line woes for 2026

Five options for the Patriots this offseason as they look to solve their offensive line issues.

The New England Patriots showcased sound offensive line play for most of the season, but the playoffs were a major struggle. Now, New England will look to strengthen their offensive line ahead of a 2026 season that will feature a far more difficult schedule than the one they played this past year.

While these five options are far from the only possibilities, each offers a unique collection of players and a distinct ideology that suggests ways New England might change and improve its front five.

5 options for the Patriots offensive line next season

Option 1: Staying Young

Will Campbell, Emmanuel Pregnon, Jared Wilson, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses

In this variation, New England opts to part ways with Garrett Bradbury to move Jared Wilson to center and select Oregon's Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 31 to fill the void at left guard.

While it is admittedly a bit risky give the youth on the left side of the line, the players would immediately see game action as the Patriots look to raise their ceiling.

Option 2: Veteran Help

Will Campbell, Elgton Jenkins, Garrett Bradbury, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses

Experience is the best policy here, and Jared Wilson's disappointing rookie year sees him demoted to backup. In his place, the team adds Elgton Jenkins after he's released from the Packers, giving Will Campbell four veterans by his side ahead of his sophomore season.

Option 3: A Balance

Will Campbell, Joel Bitonio, Jared Wilson, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses

A medium between the first two options, Bradbury is replaced by Wilson as the team's starting center, and Joel Bitonio is added to replace Wilson at left guard. While it isn't as extreme as Option 1, it offers veteran stability next to Campbell without halting Wilson's development.

Option 4: The Overhaul

Will Campbell, Kevin Zeitler, Jared Wilson, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses | Draft Caleb Lomu at No. 31

A bit more extreme, but this is my personal favorite option. The Patriots bring in Kevin Zeitler to offer stability next to Campbell at left tackle, while Wilson moves to center to replace Bradbury.

Morgan Moses, soon to turn 35, will be succeeded by Utah's Caleb Lomu, New England's selection at pick No. 31. A free agent, position change, and draft pick is a lot of action in a single offseason, but it might be what the team needs to revitalize their line.

Option 5: Running It Back (with help)

Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, Garrett Bradbury, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses | Draft Blake Miller at No. 31

While it might not be the preferred option for most fans, there is a reality where New England's starting five remains unchanged from 2025. Up until the playoffs, the unit was actually solid, though you'd never know based on their 21 sacks allowed in the playoffs.

Instead of relying on additions, the team relies on Josh McDaniels and Doug Marrone to develop the young linemen on the left side to ensure that what happened in the playoffs won't happen again. Additionally, the team drafts Blake Miller from Clemson at No. 31 to succeed Morgan Moses.

The Patriots have some interesting options across the offensive line, and to me, there's little doubt that additions should be made. As mentioned, Option 4 is my personal preference, but fans should prepare themselves for Option 5, which is a very real possibility in my estimation.
