It's the first week of padded practices for the Patriots and so far, the team has excelled in nearly every aspect that looked troublesome just one year ago. The. offense has been a focus for most onlookers, as the group has been the problematic part of the team for the better part of the last five years, and it's clear Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels' impact is benefitting the roster already.
One of the highlights has been the tremendous growth of the offensive line in protecting the quarterback, which was expected to be much improved with the addition of rookie left tackle Will Campbell. However, several of his new teammates have also been impressing, like fellow rookie Jared Wilson, and free agent signings Garrett Bradbury and Morgan Moses.
There is a healthy competition for the starting center role this season, after David Andrews unexpectedly retired earlier this year. Bradbury has been leading the way as the presumed starter, but now that is in doubt slightly, as he suffered an injury during Tuesday's training camp. The same can unfortunately be said about Moses, who also left practice early.
Injury situation to watch: Garrett Bradbury left the field limping late in the practice after a run play that was stuffed at the line.

Jared Wilson, who had a standout day in 1-on-1s, has been the top backup at center. https://t.co/xRnAMt1qHs
The severity of the injury is not yet known, but it's not usually a good sign to see the player leave practice early. Hopefully, Bradbury will be able to return this week. If not, there will certainly be a lot more eyes on Wilson.
The latest injuries to the Patriots' offensive line highlight how crucial it will be to have great depth for the group
Other than the presumed starters on the offensive line in Campbell, Mike Onwenu, and Moses, every other position on the offensive line is up for grabs. So far, Bradbury has been leading the way at center, with Wilson becoming his direct competition. So, the veteran's absence creates a significant opportunity for the rookie to get closer to securing the role.
While that is an excellent chance for Wilson to prove he was the proper selection for the Patriots in this year's draft, it also highlights just how crucial it will be for the team to ensure they have enough depth for the group during the upcoming season.
It has been an issue for the Patriots over the last few years, with the 2024 season's chaotic nature of having a new offensive starting lineup every week just the latest example. To avoid that, Vrabel and Co. need to spend some of the $60 million remaining cap to bring in reinforcements, especially when Moses might also have to miss time after Tuesday's practice.
They are not in a position to feel comfortable with the depth they have given that the offensive line has been one of the most concerning parts of the roster for several years.
Bradbury and Moses' injuries might force the new regime to invest more money in adding players, in case the worst possible scenario happens, to ensure Drake Maye and the rest of the offense will not suffer in their absence.
