Most of the 2024 offseason thus far has been about establishing a new coaching staff after Robert Kraft decided to fire Jerod Mayo after just one year. It didn't take long to announce that Mike Vrabel, former Patriots linebacker and ex-Titans head coach, would succeed him to become the 16th head coach in team history.
So far, he has put together an impressive staff for the 2025 season.
Unlike many others in his position, Vrabel appears to be taking his time, being methodical with his hires, and not trying to rush a group together just to get things going. Fortunately, his choices reflect that and experience appears to be the primary factor in who he's deciding to bring to Foxboro.
That was the biggest concern surrounding the 2024 staff under Mayo, as he was a first-time head coach and brought in many rookies. That made for a challenging year for various reasons, some of which were reflected in the team's on-field performance. This ultimately led to his dismissal not long after their season finale game against the Bills.
With the offseason kicking up into high gear now, Vrabel is well on his way to putting together one of the best coaching groups the Patriots have had in several years, which is exactly what this team needs to push them forward and get them back to relevancy.
