Almost two years ago, the Patriots announced they would begin construction on a training facility next to Gillette Stadium that would house the locker room, weight room, draft room, and more. It seemed to be in response to the low grades Robert Kraft received from the players in the annual NFLPA report card, but no matter what, it was the right decision for the team's needs.
It was finally opened on Wednesday, to the awe of everyone involved with the team and fans viewing the facility online, and one of the most impressive parts of the entire building is just how massive it is.
It is said to be around 160,000 square feet, a massive addition that will make preparation and recovery much smoother for everyone on the team and another exciting element to an already hyped 2026 season.
One of the more under-the-radar parts of the entire building, however, was immediately noticed by the superstitious, and it's hard to overlook the possibility that those who drew up and built the building intentionally sought to avoid any potential jinxes in the future.
Knowing how superstitious athletes are, it will surely be something they'll welcome with open arms.
The Patriots appear to have made an effort to avoid a long-standing jinx in the sports world with new locker room
Despite most professional sports arenas and stadiums including locker rooms with team logos on the floor, the Patriots decided to include a massive lit-up logo on their ceiling, avoiding any possibility of the major sports taboo of stepping foot on it at any time.

Although we don't know definitively that anyone in the Patriots' management who would have been involved in building the New Balance facility is superstitious, it's probably fair to assume that this part of the construction was done on purpose, given the history of logos on the floor.
It's a unique part of their building now and could become a trend for teams looking to upgrade their stadiums and facilities, too.
What will inevitably be more interesting is hearing what the players have to say when they finally speak to the media for the first time since the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, and whether they echo any of the superstitious thoughts that come with something like this.
Regardless, the new building will be a major part of keeping the Patriots moving toward their historic success, helping keep their players strong and safe from injury, and helping them recover faster from the battle wounds they might sustain.
That's what matters most, at the end of the day.
