Newly acquired No. 1 receiver, A.J. Brown, is already making tsunami-sized waves for the New England Patriots. His every action, play, and comment is fodder for the voracious Patriots news media, and for good reason.
Brown is the best Patriots' receiver since his big fan, Julian Edelman, retired after the 2020 season.
With that in mind, he recently gave a big thumbs-up to second-year receiver Kyle Williams, which is particularly impressive, given that he is coming off a less-than-impressive rookie year. Yet, Brown sees a lot of potential in what he can do for the Patriots.

“It’s amazing, bruh. It’s exciting, bruh. I’m just ready to ball.”
Brown also seems to be impressed with Kyle Williams early on 👀
“K Dub is cold, bro. K Dub cold.”

If that doesn't excite Patriot Nation, nothing will. But the Nation is excited. and should be. Brown is an NFL difference-maker. A season when he doesn't amass 1000 yards receiving is the outlier. It's only happened once in his seven-year career, and that was due to missed games.
His words are like E.F. Hutton's years ago ... worthy of a quiet listen.
A.J. Brown in bullish on second-year receiver Kyle Williams
A.J. Brown is still only a 29-year-old veteran receiver. Yet, in his seven seasons, he's seen about everything you can in the NFL, including participating in and winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles. He's a professional NFL receiver, and if he puts his imprimatur on a player, people should take note.
Patriots Wire's Danny Jaillet commented on Brown's early positive viewpoint of Kyle Williams.
"The three-time All-Pro wideout started naming off the receiving talent in New England and seemed extra excited when he got to second-year receiver Kyle Williams...Williams has a lot of untapped potential, and there's hope that it will continue to grow behind a pair of standout receivers in Brown and Romeo Doubs. A breakout season from Williams would make an already talented Patriots offense even scarier."
Established NFL veterans routinely compiement their younger teammates to help bolster their confidence. Yet, one young receiver, Kyle Williams, a 2025 third-round draft pick, will certainly appreciate the comment from such an accomplished wideout as Brown.
Williams was a little-used player in 2025 due to questionable coaching decision-making, yet his potential is off the charts.
Prior to being drafted, Williams' ability to catch passes and accelerate to full speed almost instantaneously was eye-opening. He provides similar explosiveness through the air as fellow 2025 rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson does on the ground.
But in 2025, he seldom got the short-to-intermediate routes and targets to use that acceleration and his 4.4 forty speed.
Williams added some needed muscle in the offseason, and that should help, no matter what routes he runs. Yet it seems that not getting the opportunity to catch short passes and make things happen was the primary reason for his slower development.
It's time for the Patriots' offensive coaching staff to remedy that and get him the rock more often. One thing is certain: when he does make a catch, he's capable of taking a trip to the house on any given play.
