As the NFL kicks off the final week of the 2025 preseason, teams will soon be forced to trim their rosters down to 53 players. With cut day approaching, and the start of the regular season right after, teams have been making moves this week to fill in any holes on their roster. There have already been several trades, and there could be even more before the season kicks off.
The New England Patriots could soon get involved. It’s already been reported that New England is looking to trade veteran safety Kyle Dugger, but that’s not the only player the franchise could part ways with. The Patriots could be called about one of their receivers, and they may receive an offer that’s too good to pass up.
The Minnesota Vikings are actively looking for wide receiver help as their wideout room has been impacted by injury and suspension. If the Vikings come calling for a wideout like Kendrick Bourne, and are willing to part ways with a fifth-round pick for the receiver, the Patriots should strongly consider making the move.
Patriots should consider sending Kendrick Bourne to Vikings
New England entered this offseason with wide receiver as one of their biggest concerns, so it could be shocking to see the Patriots trade a wideout away, but it’s a move that would make sense. New England added Stefon Diggs and Kyle Williams this offseason, and also have other guys Ike DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, and Kayshon Boutte ready to contribute.
With all of the receivers now on the roster, the Patriots can afford to part ways with someone like Bourne. Last season, he caught just 28 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown in 13 games. His production is likely to decrease this season if he remains in New England. For the Vikings, however, he could provide some relief to their receiver room until guys are healthy and available.
