One of the worst-kept secrets in the NFL is the disdain most teams and their owners have for the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick for the 20 years they reigned over the league, which included six Super Bowl wins in nine appearances.

Because of that, they have taken their frustration over their inability to beat them out on making sure they don't reward their extraordinary coaching staff and roster with things like Hall of Fame honors, despite accomplishing far more than some of the most notable names who have already been enshrined.

It was bad enough that players like Adam Vinatieri and Rodney Harrison have yet to have their names added to the Hall, but now the same can be said of Belichick, who will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2026.

That's not sitting well with anyone in New England or across the league, and many analysts, insiders, and players have taken to social media to share their disbelief.

NFL world is in utter shock over Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame snub

When the reports were first shared on Tuesday afternoon, NFL insider Jordan Schultz was among the earliest to express his feelings on seeing Belichick not named to the Hall in his first year of eligibility.

It didn't take long for former Patriots players to chime in as well, with Jason McCourty, who won Super Bowl LIII with the team, sharing the exact thoughts that nearly every Patriots fan was feeling upon hearing the news.

The same can be said about James White, whose one-word response sums it all up perfectly.

Five-time Pro Bowl defensive end turned color commentator JJ Watt had a lot to say, too, sharing thoughts on how Belichick's snub only makes those presiding over the Hall of Fame discredit their seriousness if someone like Belichick, who won eight Super Bowls throughout his NFL career, isn't considered a first ballot.

Making the situation worse is the rumor that former longtime Colts executive Bill Polian is a big reason Belichick didn't receive the number of votes needed to be enshrined.

The man who worked in the front office during the deflategate scandal still can't get over the false narrative that Tom Brady and the Patriots deflated footballs to earn some sort of advantage over the Colts in a game they recorded 40 carries for 177 yards and three touchdowns by running backs and won 45-7 on their way to the Super Bowl.

Although he's said to have pointed to spygate, another bogus scandal, his connections to the Colts make it clear that's not the underlying issue, and he's instead using his personal bias to keep Belichick out of the Hall of Fame.

It's an embarrassment to the league and NFL honors.
